Can CLINICAL Hypnotherapy help me?

Clinical Hypnotherapy can help you to overcome a number of issues that we come across at various times in our lives.

Following are common issues that I would be able to help you using Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Anxiety & stress

Anxiety is a feeling of discomfort, fear, stress and worry. A little bit of anxiety is good and it can make you stay alert. In fact, everyone feels anxious during some point in our lives. However, if it continues and you are feeling anxious and stressed all the time, it can start affecting your performance all across.

Hypnotherapy empowers you to manage external situations in a calm way without going through anxiety. You will be more confident and in control when dealing with situations rather than being controlled by the situation. Listening to a relaxation recording also helps to sustain the benefits gained through the therapy sessions.

Depression is a widely recognized mental health condition. It is more than just feeling unhappy for a few days and it continues for long periods of time. The symptoms can vary significantly and some of them include persistent unhappiness, worthlessness, losing interest and constantly feeling tired.

Hypnotherapy makes depression a treatable disorder. A combination of anti-depressants and hypnotherapy works better and greatly reduces relapses than by using anti-depressants alone.

Sleep disorder

Insomnia or sleep disorder refers to a condition of difficulty in sleeping. This could mean that you take a long time to fall asleep, wake up several times, difficulty waking up in the morning, feeling tired waking up and find it difficult to sleep even if you are feeling tired.

Hypnotherapy deals with the root cause of sleep disorders and helps reduce stress & anxiety levels. It is possible to return to good sleep patterns in a short period of time.

Panic attack

A panic attack is a sudden burst of intense anxiety and usually accompanied by irregular heartbeat, physical symptoms like shaking, sweating, dizziness and dry mouth. You will end up feeling the situation is completely out of control.

As panic attack is closely linked to anxiety, hypnotherapy is highly effective. It can help identify and reframe the thought patterns that trigger anxiety.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

OCD is a common mental health condition characterized by obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. OCD can become highly debilitating and could significantly restrict your normal daily routine.

Obsessiveness and compulsiveness are closely linked to anxiety. Hypnotherapy helps reduce anxiety levels and supports the production of Serotonin (a neurotransmitter), a positive control over the mind is established and breaks the cycle of obsessive compulsion.

Irrational fears and phobias

A phobia is an anxiety disorder and is a paralyzing fear of an object, situation, animal/insect. It is overwhelming and feels like you cannot control. If you experience extreme phobia, you may tend to reorganize your life and this often severely restricts your normal life.

The phobic response is stored and run from the subconscious mind. During hypnotherapy sessions, you will have access to that part of the brain which runs this fear response and you can reprogram your mind in a way that helps you to get out of your phobias.

Low confidence

We all go through times in our lives when we lack confidence about ourselves and get over it quickly. However, if this persists long term, you may start avoiding social situations, trying new things and taking up challenging assignments reinforcing your underlying self-doubts.

Hypnotherapy focuses on your positive aspects and  helps to reframe the unconscious limiting beliefs that are holding you back and replacing them with positive suggestions.

Eating disorder

An eating disorder (anorexia nervosa, bulimia, compulsive over eating) is an unhealthy attitude towards food. Symptoms include eating too much or too little, becoming obsessed with your weight and image. Eating disorder has close linkage to anxiety and stress.

Eating disorders are an eating related type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and is closely linked to anxiety. Hypnotherapy reduces overall anxiety levels and thus eating disorder sufferers are able to make positive changes in their eating habits.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

IBS is a condition that affects the digestive system. Some of the symptoms include constipation, diarrhoea and cramps and can affect your daily life. The condition is usually worsened by stress and anxiety.

Many suffering from IBS have symptoms triggered by stress and anxiety. There is a strong connection between anxiety and oversensitive nerves in your gut. During hypnotherapy sessions, suggestions directed towards controlling and normalising gut function help in gaining control of the gut function.

Exam anxiety

All of us feel a bit of anxiety before exams and it is normal. However, if the anxiety becomes so bad that you are unable to concentrate, recollect information and feel fearful of taking the exams, then it can affect your performance.

Exam anxiety may be caused by the negative picture that you hold towards exams at a subconscious level. Hypnotherapy can work directly with the subconscious mind and help create a positive picture about exams that make your experience and attitude a positive one.

Hypnotherapy for Children

It is important that as parents you care about your child’s mental health just like you would care about their physical health. A child’s anxiety is often expressed in the form of anger, difficulty sleeping, low self-esteem/confidence, defiance, unnecessary over-planning,  lack of concentration/focus, avoiding situations and general negativity. Hypnotherapy is a powerful therapeutic tool for helping with stress & anxiety. A reduction in anxiety would help the child to show significant improvement in their mental health and overall outlook in a number of areas of their life.

Those who smoke know that smoking is injurious to health but cannot seem to break the habit! There are also smokers who want to quit but don’t know the best way to go about it.

Too often, the negative behaviors and thinking patterns about smoking, for example that smoking relieves stress, prevents people from giving up the habit. Hypnotherapy works to break this negative behaviors and thinking patterns associated with smoking.

Performance Improvement

There is a general perception that a ‘therapy’ could help only when something is wrong with you and needs to be fixed. Hypnotherapy could also be used to enhance performance in sports, education and in business with a phenomenal degree of success. It is no wonder that a number of world champions in the sporting world have used Hypnotherapy for a long time. The benefits of using Hypnotherapy for performance enhancement include increased focus, confidence, positive mental rehearsal of the event, overcoming performance anxiety and positive re-framing of limiting beliefs.
